What a neat weekend at the church. We got to visit with many "old" friends while celebrating the church's 25th birthday.
It was interesting to see and meet some of the folks that got this church started and built it up over the years. These people jumped out on a limb to start a small church in a small community that we now love and enjoy.
Dr. Childs sermon was enlightening regarding God's call in our lives. When they were my age or younger they planted this church. That is part of their legacy through God's call.
What is my legacy? What is God calling me to? Is is just to be a Deacon at CPC? Is it more? I haven't noticed a knocking on the door of my heart, but have I really been listening for it?
On another thought. We, as a Diaconate, spent alot of time and effort trying to get the facilities looking good for this event. Why? For the glory of God or for the glory of man? Johnny Long spoke to the Session/ Deacon meeting a few weeks ago. He stomped all over my toes about what motivates me. And sadly, I am people pleaser. I tend to be motivated by my pride of being accepted and appreciated. Why can't I do these things to glorify God without regard to Scott?
Struggling with my human nature........
